1．Introduction x
The traditional teaching method of vocabulary is that the teacher tells pronunciations and meanings of the words. The learners like machines only to remember by rote. Thus they learned a lot of words but they could not use it as the mother language. However, conceptual metaphor can help us to solve the problem.The conceptual metaphor is a branch of cognitive linguistic. More and more scholars are interested in conceptual metaphor. And conceptual metaphor became more and more popular. The key figure is George Lakoff. According to Lakoff’s Metaphors we live by, conceptual metaphor is a ground of human experience. It also has a great revelatory sense, especially for vocabulary study. Conceptual metaphor is powerful cognitive tool for our conceptualization of abstract categories. Metaphor is expressed by vocabulary, and spreads all over the linguistic aspects. So, the research of conceptual metaphor is helpful for us to study linguistic.

2.1 The concept of the conceptual theory of metaphor
Compares with the tritional metaphor theory, the conceptual theory of metaphor is based on the combination of objective and subjective experience of the view of language. The former is based on objective concept of the language. In terms of method, the former uses piecemeal analysis, which means a rhetorical device, is hidden,and totally different from daily language, while the latter is  systematic research,which is a cognitive way, is a cross domain  mapping,  widely exists in the daily language.   Conceptual theory of metaphor is a kind of language phenomenon as well as cognitive phenomenon. That has been shared the common sense. Metaphors live the depth of human’s mind. Lakoff believes that the conceptual metaphor is ubiquitous in the universal. On the basis of Lakoff and his colleagues’ theory, conceptual metaphor means mappings between conceptual domains in the human mind.
